Life gets busy!

Most recent pic of my sweet boys and me!
It has literally been 8 months since I have posted. I didn't even post the boys first day of school pics! Sometimes I think Facebook makes this blog hard. I started blogging about my boys when there was no such thing as Facebook and I wanted to keep my family in the loop about my sweet babies. Then BOOM- Facebook came on the scene and it was instantaneous info to the fam. But is also means the awesome stories I need to write down aren't getting the full description they need either. All my Facebook friends don't really care about what my kids are doing. You know it's true... Even if I don't write it here. My boys amaze me everyday! They are smart, caring, loving and really do need only each other as friends. It makes my heart swell when I see them together or when Logan goes to baseball or spends the night with a friend and Cole longs for him. But they have also turned out to be awesome budding young men. Logan has all the first-child descriptors. Pleasing, wants to help, bossy helpful 2nd parent. Cole is our crazy but so sensitive 2nd child. He is so full of life that you really never know what he is going to say or do. This year in school has been amazing for both boys! Logan is in 6th grade (Intermediate School) and in the band. He plays the trombone and is actually really good! The first day he brought it home I really had my doubts. (Once again a post that went straight to FB, his first attempt at the instrument). Now he plays recognizable songs and is gearing up for UIL solo contest. School this year hasn't not been a breeze like all the years before and he is having to learn study skills. He is being prepared for Middle and High School. I have tried very hard to stay hands off with assignments. I will gently remind him of project due dates but that is it. We have decided that it is up to him to decide to start them and realize that to complete them it usually takes longer than he expected because he wants them to look good too! Cole is in 4th grade (Elementary School) and is thriving. It has taken his whole time in elementary to figure out how to do school. He is super smart but his personality can get him into trouble. But he has finally figured it out. Straight A's and no conduct problems. And he feels good about himself. He was recognized by his teacher this year and was nominated to represent his school at the 2015 Lonestar Leadership Academy progam. This is a huge honor for him. He is nervous as he is not one to try new things but this program will help him step out of his comfort zone and we are thrilled. He was excited to learn that he would spend a whole week going to museums!

Summer of 2014

I know it has been months since I have posted and both boys have had birthdays... So Logan is now 11 and Cole is 9! They both had sleepovers to celebrate. This was the first time we have done something like that. And they did it at our new house! Yep you read that right we moved in December. Not like a crazy move but we moved 2 subdivisions over. Cole didn't want to at first and cried every night. Logan was excited. Now that we are all moved in they LOVE their new house, neighborhood and are starting to meet the neighborhood kids. Logan started pushing the lawnmower a couple of weeks ago! Travis is THRILLED! At his 11 year check up Logan was 5'3" and 133 pounds. My baby boy could possibly be taller than me by the end of the summer! Cole is also growing like a weed! His chore is to take the recycle bin to the curb (which can get pretty heavy!) At his 9 year check up he was 4'7.5" and 83.6 pounds. The funny thing about Cole is that he did the fitness challenge at school and it showed him to be obese by his BMI and if you looked at this kid you would say HOW!!!! He is a string bean of muscle... So I laughed out loud when I saw that... Obese my big toe. Both boys still play baseball and LOVE it. They are star pitchers on their teams. They keep us busy with that. They both got A/B honor roll this year as well. A huge accomplishment for Cole as school has not always been easy for him. He is smart but applying himself is sometimes a challenge. In fact one of the awards that the teacher gave him this year was the perseverance award! What an awesome mom moment! She also said that he genuinely cared for everyone in the class. Of course he also got the trickster award! :) It was kind of a bummer because Logan was in 5th grade so they don't do awards like that anymore, but I don't think he minded... So there is the update... Sorry it has been so long...

Some Thanksgiving Pics and all Christmas Pic

We moved... Yes you read that right, we moved. It was 2 subdivisions over... Cole had a hard time with this until we actually did it. Now he loves our new house. Well I finally found the camera cord to take the Thanksgiving/Christmas pics off the camera yesterday and of course I had just purchased a new cord off Amazon because I just couldn't stand it anymore! So enjoy! There are more Thanksgiving pics but I uploaded those on my parent's computer, deleted them off the camera, saved them to a USB and of course, misplaced the USB in the move!

First day of school

Well is has happened... My boys won't go to the same school again until HIGH SCHOOL!!! WHAT!?!?!?!? How has it happened? How is it that my children have aged, and grown up and I haven't? Aren't I the same 23 year old that just had a baby??? NO... I have a 10 year old who just started 5th grade at the intermediate school!!! And a 3rd grader! This is going to be a great year for both of them, they are maturing and growing up, I just wish it wasn't so quickly!

Is the Tooth Fairy Real?

That was the question I heard night before last as Logan lost one of his last teeth... My heart shriveled as I realized I had lost the innocence of my first born. My baby!!! He had prefaced the question by telling me he wouldn't cry when I told him the answer which had let me know that we were going to have some sort of serious conversation! He also wanted to make sure Cole was out of the room. (Thank goodness because I wanted to let Cole have a little more years to enjoy the belief of all things magical!!) After I explained to him that no the Tooth Fairy was indeed no real that it was me and Daddy he said, " I knew it, just like the Sandman and the Easter Bunny!" And I just sat there grinning with tears beginning to well up! But then he tells me, "But Santa is REAL!" And I say, "Of course he is!!!" Whew at least he hasn't grown up completely!!!
